Science 4-5

1.  Bring in a local leaf of a plant to examine and observe in the microscope.  Be sure to stay away from any plants that look like poison ivy or any vines.  Only pick a leafy plant that you are familiar with.  Remember, we only need a tiney sample - even the smallest part is fine.

2.  Get ready for the Malawi Pangea project by visiting the following sites:
  1. http://www.canteriointernational.org/PAGAEARPOJECT2010/
  2. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mi.html
3.  Explore the sites above.  To find the answers to the questions below, you will have to "mine" the sites to find the answers.  Answer all of the questions in complete sentences.
  • What is the Literacy rate of Malawians?
  • How does it compare to other nations in the world?
  • What is the principal crisis in Malawi?  What is Canterio International trying to do?
  • How was Furnace Brook involved in the project last year?
