Your English Homework - Due when you come back on Tuesday, Sept. 8th

1. Your summer reading writing assignment. This is the letter you are writing to the author of your summer reading book. I passed out and went over the directions with you in class on Wednesday. Remember: these should be typed unless you have a written note from home. The directions say double-space, but you can single-space the letter if you would like.

2. A reading book. This is just a pleasure-reading book; it does not have anything to do with your summer reading! You will all be reading for the 20 minutes after lunch, so it would be best to find something you enjoy.

  4. so for the literary essay are we supposed to put the answers to the questions (essay questions) in the friendly letter or are we supposed to do everything seprate. ya i know i don't know too much about this tingy.

  5. since you lost yours i would say write the questions on a piece of paper and write the friendly letter on a seprate piece of paper well you have to type the friendly letter...so everything is seprate. you were originally suppose to but the 12 questions in the blue book that you got right before school ended but you lost yours so i would just do it on paper.

  27. If anyone is still looking for the assignment here it is:
Write a friendly letter addressed to the author of your book. Typed/ double spaced. FCAs:1. Clear beginning, middle, end 2. Body paragraphs contain supporting details. 3. avoid run-ons and fragments
Choose your prompt for the letter from one of these questions:
    * Do you identify with one of the characters? How so?
    * Do you admire (or have some feeling about) one of the characters? explain.
    * Do you agree with one of the characters actions? How So?
    * Do you find part of the story very exciting or interesting? Why?
    * Does the ending surprise you? Explain.
    * How does the story compare to other stories by the author?
    * What questions would you like to ask the author? Why?
    * Does the setting of the story remind you of any place in your world? Explain.
    * What emotion did you feel after you finished your reading? Why?
    * How has this story changed you?

Your letter nees a heading, salutation, body, closing and signature.

I hope this helps. Joe M.
